Dr. Balakrishnan is one of the co-founders of Enablence has extensive product development and commercialization expertise spanning several markets, including telecommunications, spectroscopy, sensors, and biophotonics.? At Enablence, he led the TOSA/ROSA and transceiver development for PON, Metro, and coherent long-haul offerings. Following this he spearheaded the development effort to create industry-leading MUX/DEMUX PLCs for the Datacom market.?Prior to Enablence, Ashok was the Manager of Product Integration at Optenia, a Staff Scientist at SDL (now JDS Uniphase), a Photonics Development Scientist with Mitel Semiconductor (now Zarlink) and he was a researcher with the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).?Dr. Balakrishnan has numerous publications and inventions in the areas of spectroscopy, telecommunications, and biophotonics. Ashok holds a?Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Toronto.
Mr. Larin is a seasoned finance executive with over 20 years of finance, capital markets and financial advisory experience. ?Mr. Larin has held senior positions at several blue-chip independent and bank-owned investment dealers and has previously served as Chief Financial Officer of a privately held non-bank financial company. ?Mr. Larin is a CFAa charter holder and graduated from The Ivey Business School with an Honors Business Administration (HBA) degree in 1997.
Director? of? Research? and? Design
Dr. Bidnyk is the Director of Research and Design at Enablence Technologies. He has 20 years of experience in developing new products based on various photonics technologies. He has successfully taken more than a dozen products from design all the way through production. Working closely with research centers and leading developers of simulation software, Dr. Serge Bidnyk has pioneered numerous photonic chip architectures and has been responsible for advancements in the modeling of hybrid planar circuits, as well as building advanced algorithms for the phase-controlled layouts of large-scale photonic circuits. Dr. Bidnyk has over 80 scientific publications and 70 conference presentations worldwide, as well as 9 patents. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Oklahoma State University, USA.

Ms.?Mae?Gao?was one of the?earliest Enablence employees. Graduated from?Simon Fraser?University, Mae’s M.Sc.?research?in?photochemistry granted?her a?patent?for?photoresist-free patterning of?metal and metal? oxide?thin films,?which was licensed to?DuPont.?Mae?has over 25?years of?solid?experience?in optoelectronics device fabrication.?She?let?the?build-out of?a 15000?sq?feet?wafer fab?cleanroom facility complete?with?photo lithography, wet and dry etching, dielectric and metal deposition, characterization and packaging capabilities.?Mae has also developed various?micro-fabrication and hermetic?packaging processes and? successfully built the product line for?640×512?high resolution?infrared cameras.?Prior to re-joining Enablence Technologies, Mae was?R&D Director?for?GHOPTO and Director of Process Development?for VueReal? Technologies.?
